"Well," she says, "That turned out to be quite a journey."
You don't have to tell me. I was there. Every step of the way. Down the passageway to the front door to get the newspaper that a friend has left under the doormat because we only get a newspaper on Saturday morning when we walk to the petrol station .... test the doorbell because same friend said doorbell wasn't working. Back inside to check that door bell receiver is plugged in and turned on. Back to front door. Back to receiver because doorbell still not working. Move receiver to another power outlet. Back to front door. Still not working. Check to see if door bell has battery. It does. Take battery into study to see if we have same battery in desk drawer. We do. Change battery. Back to front door, close door bell. Test door bell. It works.
But now we have big booming church bell rings that sound like the Pope has come to visit. Back to receiver. Pressing buttons to change ring tone. Back to front door. Press door bell. Tinker Bell tinsel rings. What a silly sound. Will have to do. Back to cup of tea brewing patiently. Carry tea back to bed.
"Where's the newspaper that was under doormat, Lochy?" Oh, no. Off we go again.
Retrace steps to kitchen, down passageway to study. There it is. Thank goodness, this is getting very boring. There is only so much attentiveness that I can do in a day.
Back to bed. Tea is cold. Back to kitchen to make another cup of tea. Back to bed. Who needs walkies when you are back and forth like this.
And all I wanted was my Greenie. What a dog has to put up with to get a simple Greenie.
