Sigh

Sometimes she talks to me with a squeaky voice. Like she thinks I am a small brain baby. All I can do is sigh and bury my head between my front paws. I feel embarrassed for her. Doesn’t she realise how silly she sounds. There has just been a study done on baby talk. Everyone does it. Grown human beings all over the world do it but baby talk is for babies not for two year old West Highland Terriers.
A sigh is a wonderful thing. I sigh when she pushes me over to the other side of the bed. It’s so nice and warm where she was. She gets up to make a cup of tea and when she comes back, I am soaking up all the warmth she has left behind. Sigh.
I sigh when I am waiting for a walk. Whatever she is doing can’t be anywhere near as important as taking me for a walk. Sigh.
I sigh when I’m bored. OK, we’ve been for a walk but there is the whole afternoon ahead and what are we going to do? It’s alright for her, she works at her desk, but what am I supposed to do? Sigh.
I sigh when I'm in the zone, content I guess you'd call it. Like when I settle into a new position and I let the air out so my body knows it can stay there for a while.
Sometimes she sighs. It's like she takes a breath to give her more energy inside to keep going. It's usually when she's working at the computer.
I am very glad I don't have a computer. I don't need one. I rely on her to keep me informed. And, don't worry, she does. There is is no shortage of verbage coming out of her mouth. Sometimes I am not sure if she is talking to me or talking to herself. There is no one else around. Is she a bit demented?
